‘The Yarborough Home’ was built, along with its twin, in 1859, by one of the partners of a local tobacco company. The story goes that the two partners, in an effort to not try to outdo one another, elected to build the exact same home. The ‘twins’ are located along Broad Street on the 2200 block and still very much resemble each other, despite many changes over their lives. Knowing stories such as this is part of what an agent can convey if they understand this the history of a neighborhood. With many agents who has live, work and understand Richmond and its history, we bring this knowledge to table for our clients.
The 6000+ SF home is perched high on Church Hill and offers some excellent views of the City of Richmond from the rear courtyard. It is featured in several books written about the history of Richmond. The most recent purchaser decided to take full advantage of the rear courtyard and installed what can only be best descried as an ‘urban oasis’ to truly create a retreat in and amongst the hustle and bustle of Richmond VA.
