Chesterfield County borders the City of Richmond along the south bank of the James River and is the most populated county in the Richmond MSA.
Sometimes referred to as Southside, Chesterfield is primarily residential to the west and more industrial to the south along the 95 corridor. Despite being the most populous county in the region, it is still largely undeveloped — with numerous large tracts of developable land in the southern and western sections.
Chesterfield is accessed via Interstate 95 and Route 288. Routes 60 (Midlothian Turnpike) and Route 360 (Hull Street) are the two primary retail corridors while Jefferson Davis Highway serves as a more industrial corridor in the southern sections of the county.
Prominent areas in Chesterfield are Bon Air, Midlothian, Chester, Chesterfield, Chesterfield Courthouse and Mosely.
